I Still Can't Believe It's So Easy.

September 13, 2004 William Porter - Smith and Wesson Training Academy

You came and you played as advertised. People approached me after your first day and said, "I saw, I did, I still can't believe it's so easy." You were working with law enforcement professionals, many with more than 20 years of experience and handled them as if they were children. There was no positioning or setup, everything was done in real life speed in a dynamic setting with single and multiple attackers.

My Nine Year Old Can Effectively Use DTT

May 27, 2004 Dr. David Camp - Criminal Justice Department Head, Blackburn College

...the course is being offered to non criminal justice majors (including smaller students and those physically challenged). I argued that since my nine year old can effectively use DTT tactics (which she does), it is certainly appropriate and useful for anyone, especially those at risk (date rape concerns) since opponent size and strength are not factors in DTT's effectiveness.

Whether you're a patrol officer or a member of a high risk entry team, proper use of force is an overriding concern for you. If it isn't, then I can assure you that there are hordes of liability lawyers waiting to reorient your thinking. I Wanted to Create Confidence on the Part of Students

September 24, 2004 Edwin B. Strong - President, Culver Stockton College

I am convinced that the defensive techniques [DTT] teaches are unique and needed in a society that is both more aggressive and especially more litigious. I wanted to create confidence on the part of students and especially female students that they would be able to avoid exacerbating the use of force in a situation where self-defense became necessary. I was very pleased with the outcome at the College and my discussions with law enforcement personnel leads me to believe they do so as well.

... Considerable Financial Impact

June 1, 2004

During my time as both a trial lawyer and a martial artist, I have had a significant amount of experience and exposure to the application of defensive tactics in the law enforcement and business communities. The need for an effective program in the area for conflict resolution with both physical and psychological tactics is of paramount importance to any police/security enforcement. The abilities of the representative of police/security enforcement to effectively resolve those conflicts can have considerable financial impact.

"They Do It To Themselves" Principle

DTT's designed immobilizations are completely different than what we are used to seeing. Our immobilizations are powered off of the combatant's own aggressive behavior; the more aggressive and powerful the combatant becomes, the more quickly and efficiently DTT's immobilizations take effect. The principle is similar to Chinese handcuffs.

Conversational Re-Direction Techniques

DTT makes extensive use of Conversational Re-direction skills. We have designed a specific vocabulary and verbal techniques along with situational evaluation that take advantage of neuro-linguistic programming, which allows our trainees to recognize and be highly effective in neutralizing aggressive behavior before it becomes dangerous.
